How does FileSherpa work?

Everything below is just background — how it works, and other ways into the same tools. The box above is the actual tool.

Popular routes

Common jobs that take more than one tool. Run the whole thing at once, or click any single step to do just that part.

  1. Get an image ready for a slide deck

Get a photo or screenshot sized right and small enough to drop straight into a slide deck.

    Run the whole route →
  2. Get a PDF ready for the printer

Match every page to one size, then add the bleed and crop marks most print shops require before they'll accept a file.

    Run the whole route →
  3. Make a logo cut cleanly on a vinyl or laser cutter

Trace a raster logo into clean vector paths, closed and sized exactly, ready for a vinyl or laser cutter.

    Run the whole route →
  4. Print a photo bigger than your printer

Check the photo actually has enough resolution, then split it into sheets to print and tile at home.

    Run the whole route →
  5. Get a PDF under an email size limit

Shrink a PDF to a size limit you set. Checks what's actually making it big first, and tells you if compressing would cost you the document's text.

    Run the whole route →
  6. Take the location out of your photos

Phone photos carry the GPS coordinates of wherever they were taken — often home. This finds and strips them out, without the photo leaving your device.

    Run the whole route →
  7. Get a photo ready to put on a website

Resize it, strip the metadata your camera left in it — including location — and compress it to a size that loads fast.

    Run the whole route →

Why this instead of the other fifty file sites

It reads the file first
Dimensions, page sizes, resolution, open paths, missing bleed — measured on your device before anything is recommended. Most tools ask you what to do; this one has already looked.
Finding it and fixing it are one step
Other checkers hand you a report and leave you to find the tool. A route here runs the fix itself, passing the file from step to step without a download in between.
Nothing is uploaded
Every tool runs in your browser. Not "deleted after an hour" — never sent. Open your network tab and watch it stay quiet.
It tells you what it can't do
Compressing a PDF here redraws pages as images and destroys selectable text. You're told that above the button, before you press it, not in a FAQ underneath.

How your file stays private

Most file sites say “secure” and leave it there. Here’s the actual architecture — your file and your typed request take different paths, and only one of them can ever leave your device.

Your file — never leaves

  1. Your file
  2. your browser
  3. processed here
  4. you save the result

What you type — may leave, if we can't work it out locally

  1. What you type
  2. matched on your device first
  3. if still unclear: sent to an AI model

Your file never travels on either path. What may travel is your typed request and a few measurements — that it’s a PDF, that it’s 18.4 MB, that it has 32 pages. Never its name, never its contents, never the file itself.

And you don’t have to take that on trust: press F12, open the Network tab, and run any tool on this site. Your file isn’t in the list, because it never left.
