- What does this actually do to my design?
- It enlarges the page and uniformly scales your existing artwork so it overflows every new edge by at least the bleed amount — it doesn't invent new content. It works best on designs with a full-bleed background or image; a layout with a plain white margin around it will just get a slightly bigger white margin, not real bleed content.
- How much bleed should I use?
- 3mm (0.125in) is the standard most print shops expect. Check your specific print shop's requirements if you're unsure — some ask for more.
- Should I add crop marks too?
- Most print shops want both. Use Add Crop Marks on the result — it's designed to chain right after this tool.
