Fewer colors give a simpler, smaller SVG; more colors capture finer detail.

FAQ

How is this different from just embedding the image in an SVG?
This traces the actual shapes and colors into real vector paths — the result scales to any size with perfectly sharp edges and can be edited (recolored, reshaped) like any vector artwork, not just an image wrapped in an SVG tag.
Will it look exactly like the original?
It's a trace, not a lossless conversion — very fine detail or gradients get approximated by a limited color palette. It works best on logos, icons, line art, and simple illustrations rather than detailed photos.
I want a clean single-color file for a cutting machine — is this the right tool?
Use Image to Cutting SVG instead — it's built specifically for that: one clean, closed-path silhouette instead of a full-color trace.
